Interested in pitching or participating at the Defence Entrepreneur’s Forum Australia 2019 (#DEFAus19)? This article provides the basics.

What is DEFAus?

DEFAus is both a network and a forum:

  • Network. DEFAus is a network of people who debate the changing character of warfare in order to progress our thinking for new concepts and capability. Just as the character of warfare changes, DEFAus adapts and morphs each year. Upcoming DEFAus activities will be announced by Brigadier Ian Langford at the 2019 forum.
  • Forum. Each year DEFAus hosts a forum focused on junior leader ideas. This is the fourth year the forum has been held in Australia. You can view idea pitches and presentations from previous years here (Australian and New Zealand ideas) and from the United States network here. This year’s forum (#DEFAUS19) is hosted by the Australian War College. This year’s forum continues to support junior leaders and conceptual ideas, and provides greater connection into the Defence network for capability ideas.

Why does DEFAus exist?

  • Inspire – junior leader innovation and adaptation
  • Connect – the people network for innovation and adaptation (it is a team sport)
  • Empower – a culture of innovation and adaptation as the norm
