Future Strategic Writers Competition ($2,500)

The Future Strategic Writer Competition is run by the Institute for Regional Security (IFRS). The prize is awarded to the best article, essay or comment submitted by an author under 35 years of age. The prize of $2,500 is announced at the IFRS Annual Dinner.


  • The competition is open to all young scholars or professionals under 35 years of age (as of the closing date).
  • If a submission is co-authored, all authors must be under 35 years of age.
  • Authors must explicitly state their age and intent to enter the competition when submitting an article or comment.
  • Submissions must conform with the Security Challenges author guidelines.
  • Contributions can be made by email to throughout the year.

Details of the 2016 competition are due to be announced shortly on the Institute for Regional Security website.
